IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BASE
Don’t forget the base. Like a man wearing pants that are too short, not thinking about
what happens between the bottom of the duvet and the floor is an all too common
styling faux pas.
TIP: Beware the bed base, start at the bottom, lose any ugly valances and get your bed
upholstered or find a simple valance that fits really well. They’re all different so make
sure you measure up to achieve a clean look.
HAVE FUN WITH
ACCESSORIES
Bedside tables can be tricky little things to
get right. Pick a table that’s in proportion
to your bed, but that isn’t going to get
drowned in the space.
Get creative and quirky with your
accessories. Mismatch, use a combination
of patterns, textures and colour. For rugs
we love a chunky natural and look for
cushions you can run wild with. Literally!
TIP: The proportion or size of your
bedside table can be more important than
the price tag.
SPLURGE ON THE SHEETS
We’ve all seen the rise of the
nonchalantly unmade bed, with the throw
artfully strewn across the foot of the
bed. Big sigh of relief – you’re completely
okay to ditch ironing the sheets. While a
slightly disheveled bed is most definitely
an acceptable style, getting the look right
all boils down to the quality of your
sheets. This is one item where you can’t
fudge on quality. Cheap shiny sheets are
never going to be able to complete a
bedroom look the same way soft, natural
or embellished sheets can.
TIP: Don’t skimp on your sheets! The
fold-back of your sheet adds the vital lastminute
touches to the look of your bed.
Go for linen or texture or a trim to layer
up the bed.
