May <strong>Annual</strong> Awards/ Scholarship Dinner:<br />

1. Promote, support and encourage the advancement of Nursing by providing two nursing<br />

scholarships. $1000 for Basic Nursing Program and $1,000 for Advanced Practice. They are<br />

presented at this dinner.<br />

2. Promote Professional Organization membership by providing a MNA/DNA 1 year<br />

membership to the Graduating Student of the Year.<br />

3. Promote and provide professional development for nurses with the CEU presentation.<br />

“Mission Possible: Making the Healthcare Workplace Safe Again”<br />

4. Recognize Nursing Accomplishments by presenting awards for:<br />

• Grace Brown Educator of the Year Award<br />

• Joanne Zwick Caring Award<br />

• Nurse of the Year Award<br />

Honoring all branches of Nursing by displaying a handmade quilt that depicts nursing in all its<br />

categories. Designed for the 100th Anniversary of MNA. Squares were created by nurses throughout<br />

<strong>Maryland</strong> and assembled by a MNA 9 member Anne Marie Barnett.<br />

Honoring our Deceased <strong>Nurses</strong> through the Nightingale Tribute prior to the Awards.<br />

Revision of the By-laws:<br />

All members were mailed the revised By-laws prior to the <strong>Annual</strong> meeting and the approval of the<br />

bylaws took place at the <strong>Annual</strong> Awards Meeting.<br />

Recognition:<br />

Thank you and recognition for Ed Suddath, MNA Chief Officer for all his support and help for District<br />

9 as he retires. Introduction of the President of MNA Mary Kay DeMarco PhD, RN, CNE.<br />
