o A social hour was held prior to the presentation and business meeting. Local vendors<br />

representing various direct sales companies, physical therapy companies, and schools of<br />

nursing displayed their products or services and donated door prizes.<br />

• Elections of new officers in 2017 were held in conjunction with state elections.<br />

• J. Seifarth, President of District 1, attended the MNA Leadership Day on March 24th. Shared<br />

with officers how beneficial the workshop was for officers and future officers.<br />

• District 1 adopted the <strong>2018</strong> proposed amendments to the 2014 DNA 1 Bylaws. Since the<br />

<strong>Annual</strong> Dinner was moved to the fall a few years ago, a Special Membership Meeting was<br />

held on April 2nd.<br />

• District 1 sponsored and presented the “Professionalism in Nursing Award” to one graduating<br />

Allegany College of <strong>Maryland</strong> nursing student at the December 2017 (Haley Wolfe) and May<br />

<strong>2018</strong> (Matthew Metts) pinning ceremonies. The recipients of this award display professional<br />

values of respect, altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity and social justice as described<br />

in the ANA Code of Ethics. The award recipients were presented with a plaque and one-year<br />

membership to the ANA/MNA.<br />
