The fall is a time to take pause and say thanks.
November holds several days which are special to
many of us: Remembrance Day and Random Acts
of Kindness Day are a couple of special days set
aside for gratitude.
November 2 is Random Acts of Kindness Day.
This is a Canada-wide initiative, encouraged locally
by the Guelph Community Foundation.
This is an opportunity to do something kind for
someone else. It is a day to appreciate fellow citizens
and build community. It is not about fundraising
or giving money, it is about celebrating
kindness. Here at the City of Guelph and GWSA,
we are all about kindness. Inclusivity encourages
kindness. There are many things you can do:
Smile
Say hi to someone you don’t know
Invite someone new to come to Evergreen with
you
Invite someone who is alone to join your group
in the restaurant
Park in a spot farther away from the front door
to leave the closer space for someone arriving
later
Buy someone a coffee
Give a thank you note to someone who has
helped you
Donate your time
There are many workshops and special events
planned for the coming months. Detailed information
regarding those events can be found in this
publication, and also online at www.guelph.ca/
seniors. A quick highlight of events:
November 9—The Day Before—hosted by the
GWSA
November 17—Community Craft Sale at Evergreen
November 29, 30 & Dec. 1—Christmas Variety
Show.
See you at the Centre!
Get involved! Random acts of kindness are contagious.
