Poppy Appeal 2018
Thank you to everyone who donated to the
Poppy Appeal also to those who kindly
carried out door to door collecons and
businesses where boxes were placed.
1 ST WESTFIELD SCOUT GROUP
ll the sections have settled back after the summer break.
A I am pleased to say that the Scout troop has opened again and
they have been enjoying activities outside as much as possible,
especially the Crazy Golf in Hastings. They joined up with the Cubs for a wide game at
the Quarry, Fairlight for a really fun evening.
The Cubs have been working towards the Road Safety badge.
The Beavers had a First Aid and Emergency evening, thanks to Nigel Hammond, where
they learnt to deal with all sorts of scenarios. They also have been outside on a hike and
learning the Green Cross Code.
All the sections have been making various poppies to make
displays to be included in the village commemoration of the end of
World War 1. The photo shows the Beavers’ poppy, one of the
first to be placed, heralding the large number which followed
throughout Westfield.
The Group will, as always, take part in the Remembrance Service
at the Church after parading through the village. We are having
evenings allocated to discuss the subject and make the
youngsters aware of what we are remembering.
We really need more adult help, especially another Leader for the Beaver Section,
children aged 6 to 8, and a Leader for Cubs, children aged 8 to 10 or adults who can
help in any section. Please contact Jan on 01424 552190 for more details.
A few vacancies exist in the Cub Pack and there will soon be some in the Beaver colony
so if your son or daughter would like to try us out contact Jan on the number above.
We are sorry that the proposed Jumble Sale for 20 October had to be cancelled due to
Leaders being away and lack of helpers on the day. We hope to arrange another sale
for early in 2019.
