Rawai’s
Dependable
Boat Noodles
It’s safe to say that we all have
that one, go-to restaurant
where everything on the
menu is tasty and it’s always
consistent. For locals, tourists,
and expats alike in the south
of Phuket, that restaurant is
Rawai Boat Noodles.
Don’t let the name fool
you, although they do serve
up a mean bowl of beef or
chicken noodle soup (boat
noodles), it’s hard to go wrong
ordering anything from the
well-rounded Halal menu. That
being said, challenge yourself
to find a beef massaman curry
that rivals their thick-sauced
delicacy laden with exotic
herbs and slow-cooked to
perfection. With big chunks of
tender, lean beef and potatoes,
this hearty dish will keep you
going for hours.
Other recommended dishes
include the pla phad cha (pan
fried fish with basil, fresh
peppercorns, and chillies, khao
phad sapparot (pineapple fried
rice), and beef rib soup. The
service is fast and attentive and
the friendly owner is always
milling around, cracking jokes.

FUN WATER CONNECTIONS
If you want to hang out, have a swim, slurp
down a few tasty cocktails, but have had
enough of the beach, KC Kathu Connection
just might fit the bill.
Centrally located in the middle of
Phuket, KC Kathu Connection is the
combination of a water park and a beach
club. It’s a killer spot to go with a group of
friends and spend an afternoon relaxing
poolside, dance to upbeat tunes the
DJ is spinning out, or floating up to the
submerged bar.
One of the big draws is the “Slip n’
Fly” – two tall waterslides that launch
brave participants high into the air
before making a graceful (or sometimes
not so graceful) splash into the deep
end. There’s also a steam room and
sauna to help you recover from those
not-so-graceful landings.
Definitely bring the little ones as it is
super kid-friendly with a separate shallow
pool and slides for the youngsters, as well

MONKEY BUSINESS ON THE HILL
If you find yourself in Phuket Town, there’s an interesting little
diversion just outside of old town called Monkey Hill. As the name
might suggest, this lush little park on the mountainside is home to
a healthy monkey population.
Quite accustomed to the steady flow of visitors to the park,
the troupes of hundreds of monkeys loiter around the road and
parking area waiting for generous visitors to bring them snacks.
Monkeys of all ages frolic, providing an entertaining glimpse into
monkey society.
Sometimes locals will bring huge amounts of leftover fruit
that’s damaged or spoilt and chaos ensues as the monkeys vie
for the choice pieces. If you feed the monkeys, it’s recommended
to do so when there are only a few around as they can get a bit
