For this reason, we are aware of the values that people see as
plus and minus in the spaces. We provide support for all projects
both in design and ergonomics.
Which countries are you active in? Do you have any ongoing
overseas projects?
We have special projects in many regions. Periodically we are
having projects in different regions. For example, we have an
intensive project calendar in the Netherlands and Qatar for the
next two months. For this reason, we are currently focusing on
these two regions, but this may also be the case in the Turkic
Republics or any other country in Europe. Since we continue
according to our projects, it can change according to the density
of the current project. But in general, we have been working
extensively in the Arabian Peninsula, Turkic Republics and
Europe.
What is your comment on the consumption habits in the
domestic market and in the countries you are in?
Each region shows great changes with its cultural structure. I
would like to point out that these cultural differences gradually
began to close. In old times, there were huge differences
between our projects that we have done in Arabian Peninsula
and Turkey and Europe. For example our projects that we had
realized in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates
were very different what we have done in Turkey and Europe.
Now the people here quickly reach the general flow and are very
easily affected by each other, correspondingly the difference
between the movements are getting reduced. While 99% of the
projects in the Arab region are very heavy classic, we are making
more modern houses in the current average. The building
structures have a more classic texture, but in interior decoration,
they have begun to request modern houses where they can live
more comfortably and use them more comfortably. Therefore,
the gap between the differences is decreasing, but in general,
the influence of cultural structures in the Arabian Peninsula
more classic, in Europe more minimal and ergonomic products
in the foreground. The functionality due to the shrinkage of the
square in Turkey recently gained a little bit more attention. With
the design, the ergonomics and functionality of the products is
desired to be more. In the past, a space solved by 3 unit items is
now being tried to be solved with 2 units. This way, you will have
to install more functionality on an item.
Do you have any decoration recommendations for big and
small houses?
Working in small houses is a little more difficult actually.
What people need to do is determine the needs of the house.
One of the most important factors in a house is the ratio of
light. They can work a little more freely in colours, they don’t
necessarily have to be tied to light colours since the house is
small. The important thing is to match the preferences of the
place and reduce the number of parts but by increasing their
functionalities. Thus, more comfortable and more liveable areas
can be created. It wouldn’t be a dining room without a console
in the old days. Now, we offer a functional product that can be
used to set up products and sets by making special TV units. The
product is also very popular in design. The accessories used on
the walls are now more important. In the old days, it used to be
thought such; “work ends with a painting or mirror on the wall”.
Now, this has become a bit more detailed. Nowadays, uniform
colours are not being used on the walls. Trying different colours.
This is an element that improves the design quality as well.
In large houses, to work and to create is certainly easier it is.
When we talk about large square meters, the design logic can
also change a lot in relation to the height. If we are talking
about a high area, we need to use products that will not be
lost in the field, and need to use products that would express
yourself. So the height of the area is also a very important value
for a proper designing. So we need to pay attention to these
information accordingly.
How did you close the year 2018 numerically?
It cannot be said that 2018 is very good for our sector. However,
we have achieved the goals we set within Art Design. Even
though there were slight decreases in the domestic market,
export figures were above our expectations. However, we have
achieved a balance.
+How many regions do you work in the domestic market?+
Since we are an architectural company, we don’t have much
need to have more branch offices. We are only on the Anatolian
side at the moment. In 2019, we will open two new showrooms
on the European side and on the Anatolian side. In the following
process, we will focus on our work rather than branching. We
do boutique jobs, which is not a very easy task to be done in
many points at the same time. We do not need to have many
points for custom designs. We are currently exporting to many
regions but none of them have showrooms. People have come
to us because they have identified us as the right point. In short,
we are not a company who demands, we are the one who is
demanded.
Is there any other topic that you would like to add?
In the furniture sector, the VAT issue needs to be resolved. We
now have a demand that the VAT, which is currently falling to
8%, should be continuous. Apart from that, companies need to
do some more work to raise and educate people. Instead of using
qualified manpower, we have to do something more in order to
produce it, because it does not look very bright after 20-25 years
because it is the opposite at the moment. This is very much
related with the financial strength. Each company may not be able
to put their hands under this stone, but at least the companies
who has a chance, should make an investment on this issue.
There are deficiencies in every aspect of the sector, from interior
architect to designer, from assembly to master. Here, companies
should pay more attention to this issue. As long as the high valueadded
products are being produced, the furniture industry will
develop in Turkey. We have the potential to come to a good point
in the world because of our geographic location and our ability in
craftsmanship. We’re a little below the level we should be right
now, but it will come to many different points in the future.
