4 WAIKATO BUSINESS NEWS PLANNING FOR RETIREMENT July 2019 Major development for Tamahere Eventide Advertorial Tamahere Eventide is making a major investment in the future, building both a hospital and new resident apartments to add to its extensive offering on SH1 just south of Hamilton. The $12 million build and fitout will see 16 apartments and 24 hospital-level rooms, along with reception area, dining room and lounges. Progress is good, says Chief Executive Officer Louis Fick, with the building on schedule for completion in December 2019 and opening in January 2020 Tamahere Eventide already offers residential care facilities ranging from rest home care to independent living, with its practices seeking to value its elderly clients and their families. There is a Café & Community Centre on site which includes a pool table, library and bowling green. “Residents also have access to our gully that is developed with walkways, ponds and native trees,” says Fick. “We are a Christian based organisation providing service to all of the community within our mission of ‘To provide a quality caring service for older people, in a Christian environment’.” Fick says the hospital start was delayed by the expressway build nearby but there is safe, well signed and defined access to the site from Bollard Road. It will provide for aged-care hospital-level service provision, with any person assessed as requiring hospital level care qualifying for admission. “The rooms are built as premium rooms with private ensuite, telephone, TV, ceiling track hoists and specialised bedroom furniture.” The hospital will see total staff increase by about 35, with cleaners, kitchen hands, diversional therapists, caregivers, registered nurses, and a physiotherapist. Meanwhile, the majority of apartments in stage 1 have already been selected by interested purchasers and only a few are remaining. Of the 16 apartments, 15 are on first floor level and one on ground level. There are 15 one-bedroom apartments ranging in size from 51 sq m to 54 sq m and one two-bedroom apartment of 80 sq m. Stage 2, to be completed in October 2020, includes 18 apartments on ground level with 14 one-bedroom (50 sq m to 54sq m) and four two-bedroom apartments (60 sq m to 70 sq m) The purchaser of an apartment, which is done through an Occupation Rights Agreement, receives 80 percent of the capital gain. “The apartments have a well-designed modern kitchen fitted with a fridge freezer, dishwasher, cooktop and Bosch oven,” Fick says. “The laundry is fitted with a tub and Bosch washer/dryer with large storage cupboards. A telephone system, call bell system, TV connections, central air conditioning and residents lounge are just a few of the items included.” Village vans are available for shopping trips and other outings. The hospital and apartments were designed by James White of Style Designs and the builder is John MacEwan Builders with subcontractors from Hamilton.
