In the night of nights for retailers, the
nation’s top shops were crowned at
the Retail NZ Awards at Auckland’s
SkyCity Convention Centre recently.
Next time you’re in need of some
superlative retail therapy, these are the
local stars that shone brightest.
New Zealand’s best Customer
Experience (Small Retailer) was judged
to be The Christmas Hut at Papanui
in Christchurch, while Forme Spa &
Wellbeing took out both the Customer
Experience Award (Large Retailer) and
Supreme Award for its flagship location
in Parnell, hot on the heels of the
nationwide spa group’s success
in the World Luxury Spa Awards. On
your next trip to Nelson, make sure
your shopping list includes Customer
Experience Award Runner Up Eyebright
Country Store in Richmond and Pic’s
Peanut Butter World at Stoke (Highly
Commended).
It was a clean sweep for the South
Island in the People’s Choice category
– the only award judged by public vote.
Queenstown’s NZ Direct health and
beauty store was the winner, with online
gift guru Not Socks, which operates
from Casebrook in Christchurch, Runner
Up and another online success Craze
Fashion, which also operates a Kaiapoi
retail store stocking designer brands
from New Zealand, Australia and
America, awarded Highly Commended.
The mainland also scored plaudits in
the Innovation category with Untouched
World taking out Highly Commended
and Vines Village Café in Blenheim
judged Runner Up. And, if you’re in the
market for a new hairdresser that’s a cut
above, H&B – Hair Art & Beauty of
St Albans in Christchurch took home
the award for Investment in People.
