Providing a high level of service
to my clients is the key to good
financial advice. I expect a
face-to-face meeting with each
and every one of my clients at
least once a year, in addition to
regular phone calls and emails.
My clients also know that their
portfolio is reviewed by me every
month, and if at any point I see
an opportunity, or something that
needs addressing, I contact them
immediately.
Whilst this will always remain a
priority for me, it seems not every
financial adviser thinks the same
way. At Chorus, more and more
clients are walking through our door
each day because they’ve either lost
contact with their adviser or they are
not happy with the level of service
they are receiving.
I should at this point explain why
so many advisers can go ‘AWOL’
after they’ve invested their client’s
savings or pensions. Despite it
being banned now in the UK, the
majority of financial advisory

companies in Spain can still take
hidden commissions when they
recommend investment funds.
This means that not only do they
often have a very small choice of
funds to choose from – sometimes
they only have this commission
agreement in place with one or
two fund houses – but they are
also effectively paid for as much
as 10 year’s work up front. At this
point the adviser simply moves
on to the next prospective client,
often neglecting a large client-base
that would benefit from ongoing
advice.
Those with financial products in
Spain need to be aware that the
very key to good financial advice is
regular reviews of client portfolios.
At Chorus we monitor every fund
our clients use on a weekly basis
(as we’re fully independent, this is
a very broad range), and we look at
every single portfolio we manage at
least every month.
This approach, combined with using

IN recognition of its
achievements in animal
protection, La Nucia has
been chosen to host the
third National Campus for
Animal Protection and Canine
Units, at the end of
next month.
During the prestigious
four-day congress, local police
canine units from all over
Spain, will take part in workshops,
specialist training
sessions and practical simulation
exercises, designed to
create a scenario reflecting
the needs of Animal Protection
in the technical, scientific
and professional fields.
A two-day Specialist training
course for police canine
units, including theoretical
and practical sessions, conducted
by expert trainers in
collaboration of the two large
state bodies of police canine
units, is also part of the
scheduled programme.
The event, jointly organised
by the Spanish Society
by Andy Mansell
of Criminology TSU (SEcrim),
the National Union
of Chiefs of Local Police
(Unijepol), the Spanish Association
of Public Safety
of Animal Protection (AES-
PPA) with the collaboration
of the City of La Nucía
through the departments of
Public Safety and Animal
Protection, will also include
a national awards ceremony,
where Police Canine Units,
individual dog handlers and
dogs will be commended for
their work activities.
On the final Saturday,
an exhibition starting at
12.00h, open to the general
public, designed to promote
and give a greater understanding
to the work of these
special units, will take place
at the Camilo Cano Sports
Arena, with participation
and displays given by the
finalists and award winning
dogs and handlers.

Jessica Gommans announced the congress details
this week

in Animal Protection at the
national level, which is why
Unijepol and AESPPA have
chosen our municipality for
this complete Campus that
includes a Congress, training
sessions, delivery of national
distinctions and a great exhibition
in the Esportiva City”,
said Jessica Gommans, Councillor
for Animal Protection in
the municipality.
“Local police from all over
Spain of canine units will be
trained in La Nucía, in a theoretical
and practical workshops
that will use the parks
parks, the training camp for
rescue dogs.”
The event will take place
from Wednesday 23rd October
to Saturday 26th October
at venues across the town.
