SOOTY’S CLEAN
A VINTAGE Sooty puppet which
once used on TV by Harry Corbett is
going on sale for £1,200 at auction.
The famous yellow bear has been sitting
in a box for 41 years after the entertainer
gave him to one of his friend’s
daughters in the 1970s.
Tina Stewart, who received the special
gift, said: “It’s time for someone
else to enjoy him. Perhaps he should be
in a toy museum.’
Sooty, a practical joker and magician
who communicates by ‘whispering’ to
HERE pussy, pussy! A mystery
big cat that has been spotted
across Cambridgeshire for
more than three decades appears
to have been finally been
captured on camera.
The Fen Tiger is a local legend
– but has remained elusive. That
was until Jamie Newby and fiancée
Haley spotted the animal
moving through a field in Ipswich
and took the chance to take a snap
SWEEP
his handler, was created by Harry in
1948.
He first apeareed on the BBC in
1952 and it is one of the longest running
children’s programmes in the UK,
with more than 850 episodes featuring
him and his sidekick’s Sweep and Soo.
get busy.
TOP CAT GIVES PAWS FOR THOUGHT
of it. The couple told the Cambridgeshire
Live website that the
creature was bigger than a Labrador
and had a ‘scary, evil face’.
Jamie said: “The size of it instantly
struck me. I’d seen a dog
walker walking a Labrador in the
same exact spot the day before
and the cat looked bigger than
that.”
You’d need more than a few tins
of ‘Whiskas’ to feed this feline!
