A sample itinerary
Highlights
DAY 1
ARRIVAL SWITZERLAND
Take the train from the airport
terminal and with a short connection
at Zurich main station, continue via
central Switzerland to Wengen and the
3* Hotel Belvedere.
DAY 2
LAUTERBRUNNEN VALLEY
This undemanding 4-hour trail from
Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg offers
beautiful views of the valley and its
waterfalls. There are also plenty of
sightseeing and picnic opportunities
along the way.
DAY 3
MOUNTAIN TRIO
For a great view of the region’s
mountain trio of the Eiger, Mönch
and Jungfrau enjoy the hike up to
the Kleine Scheidegg. The 2h45 route
winds along wide but sometimes
steep paths. At the top you are
rewarded with a fantastic panorama.
DAY 4
SCHYNIGE PLATTE – FIRST
Use the historic cogwheel train from
Wilderswil to Schynige Platte to get
to the starting point of the 15km
long panoramic trail. This visually
stimulating hike along the popular
Faulhornweg, the ridge walk with
birds-eye views of Lake Brienz
and past the most idyllic lake in the
Alps – Bachalpsee offers breathtaking
views.
DAY 5
EIGER TRAIL
The Eiger North Wall is close enough
to touch from the Eiger Trail and
the various climbing routes to the
notorious Eiger summit are easy to
spot from the trail. The 6km trail –
in parts quite steep – leads from
Grindelwald Eigergletscher to Alpiglen.
DAY 6
MÄNNLICHEN AND GRINDELWALD
The starting point is the restaurant on
Männlichen. The 3h trail will lead you
over open pastures, past alpine huts,
down below the tree line to the spring
pastures just above Grindelwald.
DAY 7
FIRST AND BACHALPSEE
This 2-hour hike offers everything a
hiker’s heart desires: A magnificentlylandscaped
path leads through
lush flowering alpine meadows.
On the opposite side of the valley,
ice-capped four thousand metre
mountains tower in the air. At the
start of the hike there is a short, but
considerable climb, however it its
worthwhile to tackle, to discover the
GSTAAD
blue gem – Lake Bachalpsee.
