Phil Starr, also of the Friends’ group, added:
“We are thrilled that the judges have awarded us
another top award and seen Norden Jubilee Park
in its full glory. It’s overwhelming to be awarded
yet another outstanding as well as being awarded
an RHS Gold Park Award again. This really flies the
flag high for Norden.”
The award comes just days after the small and
scenic park once again received the Royal
Horticultural Society’s highest grade of
‘Outstanding’ at the It’s Your Neighbourhood
awards in Southport on Wednesday 30th
October, the fourth accolade in as many years
for the Norden space.
Part of the Rochdale In Bloom official judging
route, last year Norden Jubilee Park won a national
certificate of distinction, one of just four presented
across the UK.
The regional North West in Bloom competition
consists of two judging days. The first is a guided
tour taking in areas of interest around Rochdale;
the second allows for visits to community-based
projects that include local schools, allotments, health
and well-being projects and conservation areas.
