Norden Remembers, Lest we Forget
At 11am on Sunday 10th November 2019, members
of the Norden community gathered to celebrate an
act of remembrance at the Memorial Gardens on
Edenfield Road. The gathering was the largest in
recent years as Rev. Willis led the service and the
names of the fallen were read aloud by children
from local uniformed groups. As the last post rang
out the gardens fell silent before wreathes were laid
at the cenotaph.
This years service was especially moving as, for the
first time, an active member of the armed forces was
present to lay a wreath and make a formal salute to
the fallen. Many veterans were also present to
remember friends and family.
Displays of poppies had be laid around the
memorial including knitted poppies from the WI
and paintings from local children, and many more
added crosses and crafted items.
The service conclude with the national anthem and
prayers.
