BANGLADESH<br />
BSRM Steel Mills commissions ladle furnace and continuous caster<br />
A 55 t ladle furnace and a three-strand<br />
billet caster supplied by Danieli have<br />
been started up at BSRM’s new meltshop<br />
in Mirsharai.<br />
The ladle furnace has two ladle cars positioned<br />
at 90° and a 10 MVA + 20% (overload)<br />
transformer. It is equipped with bus<br />
bar electrode arms and inert roof to minimize<br />
electrode side oxidation, slag/steel<br />
oxidation and the pick-up of oxygen, hydrogen<br />
and nitrogen in the refined and clean<br />
liquid steel.<br />
The 3-strand 8-m-radius caster features<br />
mould-EMS for low- and medium-carbon<br />
steels, and is designed for a casting rate of<br />
30 t/h. It produces 160-mm-square billets<br />
in open and submerged stream casting,<br />
mainly for rebar production but also for<br />
sections on the company’s rolling facilities.<br />

Metal granulation unit for Tata Steel Jamschedpur<br />
Second GRANSHOT ® system at TATA<br />
Steel group<br />
UHT has received a second order from<br />
TATA Steel Ltd. in India for a GRAN-<br />
SHOT ® metal granulation unit to be<br />
installed at their main integrated steel<br />
plant in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India.<br />
The unit will have a 300 t/hour granulation<br />
capacity to handle excess pig<br />
iron from the blast furnace operation.<br />
It will be commissoned during 2020.<br />
The first GRANSHOT order to TATA<br />
Steel Kalinganagar was commissioned<br />
in 2016.<br />
