2INTRODUCING WARMTH
On a late afternoon in early spring light becomes your
friend with dappled sunlight often peering in through your
windows. This light creates warmth in an interior and can
be spread around the house using a collection of warming
textiles. Pair warming colour tones with raw fabrics and rich
prints with smooth pale marble.
Whilst the sunlight is not always available create the same
effect with soft lighting from an over hanging light or create
a cosy feeling with a candle and multi-level lighting.
3FRESHEN UP YOUR WALLS
WITH A COAT OF PAINT
Painting your interior walls is probably the most
important way you can make a room look refreshed. If you are
on a budget or looking for something quick and easy, a few coats
of paint can actually go a long way. Add your personality into a
room with new eye-catching colours on feature walls or use soft
neutral hues to create a serene escape.
1
You can also use paint on your
furniture, up-cycling rather than
discarding. Sanding, priming, painting
and using a protectant coat will help
you achieve beautiful painted results.
Use new handles or nobs to lift a tired
looking drawer or cupboard.
CREATE NEW AND
EXCITING FLOORING WITH
ADDITIONAL RUGS
4
5
If you have hard flooring and want to add warmth or feel your
decor isn’t compelling enough, a rug can help define or separate
areas in your room. Use a rug to help define a new colour tone
throughout a room or you can create striking visuals by picking a
rug which echoes the paint on the wall.
When picking a new rug it is better to pick a rug which
compliments the room, linking into other textures and patterns
of your furniture. Too many different patterns can create an
overwhelming feeling and becomes a focal point which is jarring.
Rugs can be in-expensive and can be the ideal way to update a
room according to the seasonal changes, allowing you to keep up to
date with new trends.
After a busy festive period, the new year is the most
satisfying time for some spring cleaning - dramatically altering
the way your home looks and feels. In our homes there are many
easy-to-overlook areas which we often miss with our weekly clean.
Before you start clear away clutter on your work surfaces, plan to
clean one room at a time, and make sure you get all your cleaning
products to hand. Pull large pieces of furniture away from the wall
and clean behind them.
For the kitchen wipe down the fronts of your cabinets, cleaning
dust and dirt on the inside and outside of the doors. Clean out your
fridge and defrost your freezer. In your living room and bedrooms
make sure you hoover off any cushions, shampoo your rugs and
carpets and polish down your furniture.
