I know that it has probablybeen a little bit of a roller coaster – with some really good days, andsome not so really good days. Believe me, we have all been going throughthem. I am so excited you have chosen to stick with it though. Today isa day to Rest – don’t focus on anything but the power and majesty of theKing and Rest in Him.Let’s come back to 1 Kings 18-19 once again. To refresh our memory,Elijah has just seen God defeat the prophets of Baal. Jezebel threatenedto kill Elijah, and instead of standing firm with confidence, he ran away,filled with fear. 1 King 19:4 says that he went a day into the wilderness,sat down by a bush and prayed that he might die. He was exhausted andwanted and end to all that he was experiencing. But, God was not donewith him yet, and sent an angel to give him food and water. Twice theangel told him to eat and drink because the journey was too much forhim. In the midst of all of that, God provided for his servant. He allowedhim the chance to eat, drink, and sleep, so that he might be rested forthe journey that was coming. God was already aware of the fact that thetrip was going to be more than Elijah could bare, yet God still provided.
In the Quiet: Developing Trust and Finding Strength 31Thankfully, Elijah trust, and experience God in a way that He neverhad before.You might feel like Elijah today. Consumed by doubt and fear, eventhough you have seen God do some absolutely unbelievable works in yourlife. You might simply be exhausted. Whatever the case may be, andwherever you may find yourself, trust that He has you and everything youare experiencing, firmly in His grip.Today spend your time in His presence – there is no need to rush. Thereis no need to doubt. There is no need to be afraid because He has it allunder control! I believe in you. More importantly, Christ believes in You!Question: What is one thing that often consumes your mind andenergy so much that you can’t rest? Recognize that, andrelease it to the Savior today.
