Homeless Nadezhda cannot cope with the loss of her husb<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> hopes that God will one<br />

day reunite the two of them. Security guard Oleg has lost his job <strong>and</strong> his health. How to find<br />

the strength to keep on living when all is gone? Suitably for Nadezhda, a traditional Russian<br />

Orthodox Church is built in the block-of-flats district. Will that bring consolation? Many people<br />

come to the church but for Oleg <strong>and</strong> Nadezhda, the church proves to be a bit overwhelming<br />

in its indifferent greatness. The Pigeons is a creative <strong>documentary</strong> about the strength of hope<br />

of a simple man.<br />

oluline on kadunud? Kas usust? Usust küll, aga millesse? Kummalise pildina kerkib keset halli<br />

magalarajooni traditsiooniline õigeusu kirik. Kiriku juurde tuleb palju lihtsaid ja tähtsaid inimesi,<br />

kuid Nadežda ja Oleg peavad leidma oma usu ja lootuse mujalt.<br />

THE RUSSIANS ON CROW ISLAND<br />

The Narva River is located on the border between European Union <strong>and</strong> Russia. Over ten<br />

thous<strong>and</strong> people lost jobs when the textile factory was closed down here, on the Isl<strong>and</strong> of<br />

Crow in 2010.<br />

The story is built around a group of people: Yana, Alissa, Olesya, Vitya, Lena, Andrei, Igor,<br />

Sanya, Zhenya, Dima, Ilya, Tolik, Vaike, Sasha, Jekaterina, Pyotr, Oleg, Maksim, Vladimir, <strong>and</strong><br />

Katya. The days <strong>and</strong> nights of all these people do not differ much from each other. They all<br />

share the same fate of the Isle of Crows. It is like a bad dream that no one can escape. Where<br />

can they run from it? Where is the city that offers salvation? The nostalgia for the good old<br />

Soviet days is mixed with the rage for lives wasted on lies. Is there hope for lives to be rebuilt<br />

from these ruins?<br />

manufaktuuri pankrot ei puudutaks. Töötu, kodutu, narkomaan, lapskerjus või varas on selles<br />

vene keelt rääkivas Eesti linnas tavakodanik. Yana, Alissa, Ženja, Dima, Ilja, Tolik, Vaike, Sonja,<br />

Ira ja Max on inimesed, kelle päevad, ööd ja hommikud on väga sarnased. Seesama Varesesaar<br />

on nende ühine kogemus, mis painab kui halb unenägu. Kuhu põgeneda? Kust leida lunastust?<br />

Hinges istub sotsialismi nostalgia ja raev valedele raisatud elu pärast. Kuidas ehitada inimvaredele<br />

uut? Kust leida peenraha pilvelõhkujate tarvis?<br />

WORKING TITLE: WUNDERKIND<br />

A playful coming-of-age story about 14-year old musical prodigy Alex Prior <strong>and</strong> his<br />

relationship with the devoted parents during studies at St Petersburg Conservatory.<br />

Born in London to a Russian mother <strong>and</strong> British father, at the age of 10 Alex already made his<br />

world-known name as a singer. In order to insure that their son gets named the Great Composer<br />

of the XXI Century, mother <strong>and</strong> father become entangled in their son’s musical career. Film<br />

crew started to follow Prior family when the fourteen-year-old boy entered St Petersburg<br />

Conservatory to study composition <strong>and</strong> conducting.<br />

TÖÖPEALKIRI: IMELAPS<br />

Imelapseks olemise aeg on piiratud ja seda kujundavad eelkõige vanemate ambitsioonid.<br />

“Väikeseks Pavarottiks” kutsutud Alex Prior esines juba 10-aastaselt maailma muusikaeliidi ees<br />

sellistel legendaarsetel lavadel nagu Carnegie Hall ja London Arena. Inglasest isa finantseerib<br />

poja ambitsioonikaid projekte ning venelannast ema korraldab tema esinemisi. Kangekaelselt<br />

üritavad nad pojal leida muusikamaailmas seda õiget rada, mis aitaks tippu tõusta ja sinna ka<br />

püsima jääda.<br />

Alex ise näib nautivat elu lapsemeelse kergusega – nii Meryl Streepi suudlust kui ka oma Kremlis<br />

esietenduvat balletti, mida ta ise dirigeerib. Alex teatab: “Kas läheb hästi… või läheb hästi.” Kui<br />

igal juhul läheb hästi, miks siis Alexi vanemad ikkagi muretsevad?<br />

Film jälgib murrangulisi aastaid Alex Priori ja tema vanemate elus. Alates sellest, kui 14aastane<br />

nooruk astub Peterburi konservatooriumi õppima kompositsiooni ja dirigeerimist<br />

kuni lõpetamiseni kahe magistrikraadiga 17-aastaselt. Filmi autor usub, et Alex jõuab õige pea<br />

muusikamaailma tippu.
