Dear film makers and art lovers!
Pärnu Film Festival has acquired a firm position among the
cultural events of Estonia. It enriches our world outlook and
reminds us at least every summer that the World is much more
manyfolded and intricate than it usually appears to us by means
of media.
Film festivals have their certain position in film scenery in
a wider sense. Festivals have become the place where next to
watching the screenings, you can enlarge your conception of
the world through personal conversations and meetings.
Film lovers as well as the local film makers have a wonderful
possibility to discover, through an intensive program, these
little worlds of which they have not been aware of before. This
expands our comprehension of how colourful is life around
us.
The main theme of Pärnu Film Festival has been the same
since its birth – the destiny of indigenous peoples. This year
the Festival focuses on the life in Russia and next to that, on
the 100th anniversary of Estonian films (EF100). It is good to
notice that in the frame of EF100 the jury for foreign films is
formed of the living classics of Estonian documentarists.
As the international community of film lovers hums in the
Estonian Summer Capital, Pärnu changes into the Estonian
Film Capital, too.
I have a great pleasure and an honour to welcome the
international film community coming to Pärnu.
I wish you thrilling impressions!
Rein Lang
The Minister of Culture of Estonia
Kallid filmiloojad ning kunstisõbrad!
Pärnu Filmifestival on omandanud kindla koha Eesti
kultuuripildis.
Festivalid on kujunenud kohaks, kus lisaks filmide vaatamisele
See suurendab
mõistmist ja arusaamist, kui värviküllane on elu meie ümber.
Festivali põhiteema on alates festivali loomisest jäänud samaks
– põlisrahvad. Sel aastal pööratakse tähelepanu elule Venemaal
ja lisaks on fookuses Eesti film 100. Hea on tõdeda, et EF100
raames on välisautorite filme hindamas eesti dokumentalistika
elavatest klassikutest žürii.
Eesti suvepealinnas lööb elu kihama rahvusvaheline seltskond,
Pärnu muutub Eesti filmipealinnaks. Mul on suur heameel ja au
tervitada kokkutulnud filmirahvast.
Soovin teile erutavaid filmielamusi!
