MOSs ROW ALlOTMENTS

LOoking back, it’s bEen

a strange year in many ways

The lock down came in March with strict guidelines to follow on the

Allotments. Although the Government allowed access to allotments for plot

holders a few chose to stay away this year. For others who visited regularly it

was a life saver especially for those with no outdoor space.

The weather also was strange this year with a heatwave in April and May

and then the two nights of devastating frost. It was like month reversal with

glorious sunshine in April and then

frequent showers and cool in July.

Regardless of these events there have

been some bumper crops and examples

of wonky veg. Flowering plants have also

looked pretty and it is a shame that the

Allotments have not been open to visitors.

Unfortunately, the Communal and Wildlife

areas are untidy and the hedge has

become overgrown. The first working

party since March will take place in

September to address these problems.

Strict guidelines will be adhered to

with no tea and coffee time. If this is

successful, then the monthly working

parties can recommence.

Another problem as reported last time, is

the intruders to the site causing damage

and theft. This is most upsetting to all the

plot holders. All we want is to continue

with our hobby and collect the result of

our hard work. Measures were put in

place to deter the intruders, but they have

now cut a large hole in the fence.
