The RBF includes a set of methods for assessing the risk to each of these ecological
components from activities associated with the fishery in assessment. The RBF is carried out in
a series of stages that are described in the FAM v2, depending on the outcome of the previous
stage (Figure 6). The next stage is a ‗Scale Intensity Consequence Analysis‖ (SICA), which is
based around a structured discussion with stakeholders. If the outcome of the SICA suggests a
level of risk to the stock that is moderate or above, a ‗Productivity-Susceptibility Analysis‘ (PSA)
is then carried out.
During the scoring meeting for this fishery, the assessment team concluded that there was not
enough scientific information to score Performance Indicator 1.1.1 (Stock status) and that the
RBF should be used to score this indicator.
