Scoring comments (1-60) There are measures in place, if necessary, which are expected to maintain main by catch species at levels which are highly likely to be within biologically based limits or to ensure that the fishery does not hinder their recovery. (2-60) The measures are considered likely to work, based on plausible argument (e.g. general experience, theory or comparison with similar fisheries/species). (1-80) There is a partial strategy in place, if necessary, for managing by catch that is expected to maintain main by catch species at levels which are highly likely to be within biologically based limits or to ensure that the fishery does not hinder their recovery. (2-80) There is some objective basis for confidence that the partial strategy will work, based on some information directly about the fishery and/or the species involved. (3-80) There is some evidence that the partial strategy is being implemented successfully. (1-100) There is a strategy in place for managing and minimising by catch. (2-100) The strategy is mainly based on information directly about the fishery and/or species involved, and testing supports high confidence that the strategy will work. (3-100) There is clear evidence that the strategy is being implemented successfully, and intended changes are occurring. There is some evidence that the strategy is achieving its objective. The fishing practice is to target only sea bass and cod with lures, and it is expected that it will continue to have no impact on by catch species. This means that the fishery will continue to have no impact on this component and from monitoring by VBHL of its member catches any change would be detected. (Therefore the requirement at SG100 is met*.) *(FAM v2 7.1.26 states: If it has been shown that a fishery has no impact on a particular Component and has therefore scored 100 under the Outcome PI, it shall still be scored under the Management Strategy PI.
