AITCH – RAIN FEAT. AJ TRACEY & TAY KEITH:
Everyone on this track killed it, I really liked the Tay Keith instrumental and was
interested to hear what a UK rapper(s) would sound like over mainstream US
production. Aitch and AJ Tracey embodied this instrumental. If you’re looking for a
song with mainstream production and killer performances look no further.
TRIPPE REDD – I LOVE YOU FEAT. CHANCE THE RAPPER:
The rough plucky guitars in this track help create the vision of summer. I really
enjoy the heavy 808s and the hard-hitting chorus as well and the animated
Chance The Rapper verse. I can also play this track anywhere or any mood
whether I’m happy or sad, making it an easy pick for my summer playlist.
RINA SAWAYAMA – XS:
The music video is currently sitting at 4 million views but I reckon it can go bigger,
because it’s got the essential ingredients for a summer pop song, like soft guitars
as well as occasional drops of heavy guitar riffs, and lyrics being delivered in a
confident tone and a catchy chorus. The verses can be seen and described as a
typical summer shopping spree.
TKAY MAIDZA – SHOOK:
Tkay Maidza is another artist that deserves a lot more recognition because a
majority of her discography has hit potential, and this is not an exception. This
track features excellent banging production with a catchy chorus and lines
delivered in a feel-good tone, when I hear the chorus, I feel like the greatest
person alive to be honest.
POP SMOKE – THE WOO FEAT. 50 CENT & RODDY RICCH:
The laid-back guitars set the tranquil beach vibe; these are done by 18-year-old
Swedish guitarist Rxcksta. Pop Smoke’s auto-crooning helps adds to the tranquility
and Roddy Ricch and 50 help give this track more hit potential with their
performances. If this song doesn’t remind you of a chill summer, I don’t know
what does.
INTERNET MONEY – LEMONADE FEAT. DON TOLIVER, NAV & GUNNA:
The first 5 seconds of this track I immediately knew this was going to be a summer
smash because it contains a beat that spells “Summer” with a capital S and an
impressive hook by Don Toliver. NAV and Gunna do their thing on this track, but
for every day of Summer when the sun is shining, I have to play this song, it’s the
law. Hence why it’s my personal song of the summer.
