unfair, it’s frustrating, and it hurtsthat a big part of my life will needto be kept under wraps due to onepetty judgement – on who I love, ofall the things in this country to bedisappointed by!I hold onto the fact that I have noobligation to tell anybody anything– not even family – just as if I werestraight. You realise after a while thatactually, their negative opinions arenot your problem. Your heart is foraccommodating love and kindness,not spite. Draw empowermentfrom the whole LGBT+ familybehind you; every single one of ushas experienced rejection in someform or another, but together, weovercome it!My advice is to fill your dailygood-vibes quota by seeking outfriends who’ll treat you the sameno matter what. Know your worthunapologetically, and let that guideyou towards the right crowd.TL;DR: I recommend Häagen-Dazs’strawberry cheesecake ice cream,460ml.WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITHYOUR LIFE?Somebody once said to me, ‘We needmore young people who believe theycan change the world.’That person was my formerpsychologist, and I want to followin her footsteps. As cliché as this’llsound, if I can change the world foreven just one person with my work…I’ll be satisfied.WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUTBEING LGBTQ+?I could say, ‘being a part of somethingbigger’, ‘our vibrant and diversecommunity’, or, ‘having the honourof being your LGBT+ co-editor’,whatever. I could pour unto theemine darndest soliloquy about howwonderful it is to support and besupported by a culture that at its core,embraces being yourself.But I won’t lie to you. One word:gaydar. My mind operates in a waythat never lets me see only ‘one face’in a person; there’s always morebeneath the surface. Piecing togethermannerisms, speech, tiny details…I get kind of excited thinking of allthese pointless correlations, likeSherlock Homo, searching for allies…So, who am I? (Apart from a creep).While our views, situations or icecream preferences may differ, whatmatters is, I dream. I struggle. Ichange. And I love.
