Indonesia’s economy grew by 5.05% (y-o-y) in<br />
the third quarter, a touch lower than the market<br />
consensus of 5.34%. This followed three consecutive<br />
quarters of decline, which saw the economy contract<br />
by a combined 8.34%. However, Indonesia’s economy<br />
has, in the last few years at least, been a tale of two<br />
halves, with Q1 and Q4 underperforming, and Q2 and<br />
Q3 overperforming.<br />

The 8% (y-o-y) GDP increase in the Philippines in Q3<br />
was the highest quarterly growth that the country<br />
has ever seen. However, record growth came after a<br />
record decline, which saw the economy contract by<br />
14.9%. Growth is expected to continue into the fourth<br />
quarter, although analysts forecast it is likely to be a<br />
modest rise of around 3%.<br />
