⊲ UTB: Despite returning to action,
albeit it briefly prior to the break,
has your focus over the last fortnight
been on trying to regain full fitness
once again?
⊲ LM: “Yes. We have had a few players
away on international duty, but training
has been good, and I’ve done two
sessions on certain days to try and
get myself right back in contention for
when the action resumes this month,
I just want to play and contribute to
the team climbing the table and a few
other lads who have been injured
have been doing the same too. The
team struggled in the opening weeks
of the season, but we had a really
good run after the first international
break of the season and that has been
talked about openly because we
need to pick points up quickly before
another break around the corner in
November.”
⊲ UTB: Competition for places
throughout the squad is pretty fierce
to say the least, but none more so
than at the top end of the pitch.
Do you feel all of the strikers offer
something different to the team?
⊲ LM: “In my opinion yes and it’s
down to us as individuals to show
the manager our best form and
allow him the chance to find his best
combinations. It’s not just the strikers,
we have a really talented squad
and there are probably two or three
players who could do a job in every
position, so the manager has options,
good players in all areas, so for
everyone it is about consistently doing
well because if you aren’t at the top of
your game someone else will be trying
to take your spot and that is certainly
going to help drive us forward this
season because nobody can just
expect to play and take their position
for granted.”
