40th Anniversary<br />
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of <strong>United</strong>’s Fourth Division title winning season<br />
in 1981/82, UTB trawls through our programme archive to chart the memorable<br />
season through the eyes of the Blades matchday programme of the time. In this<br />
week’s edition we look back over the home programme against Hartlepool, with<br />
<strong>United</strong> edging up the Division Four table, sitting fifth ahead of this match...<br />
× COMMERCIAL NEWS…<br />
In commercial news, the programme<br />
was also used for a full page to promote<br />
the Money-Spinner Lottery Ticket. With<br />
a first prize of £1,000, agents were<br />
required to sell the tickets with some of<br />
the benefits including free admission to<br />
games if sales exceeded 40 tickets.<br />
× IAN PORTERFIELD…<br />
The manager initially paid tribute to coach and<br />
former player Cec Coldwell who celebrated<br />
his 30-year association with the Blades.<br />
Porterfield also gave mention to the last<br />
home game which saw <strong>United</strong> defeat Division<br />
One Arsenal in the League Cup. There were<br />
also words for Keith Edwards following a<br />
spectacular goal in the win at Port Vale.<br />
