In the heart of Ghent, you will find the beautiful Saint Bavo
Cathedral. A unique building with a long and rich history. In
the 10 th century already, the first parish church of Ghent was
located on the very spot where the cathedral can be seen today.
Traces of the subsequent Romanesque church, which
dates from the middle of the 12 th century, can still be found in
the crypt, which is richly decorated with murals. But the appearance
of the building as we know it today, in an impressive
Gothic style, dates from the 16 th century. It was also then that
the church became the cathedral of the diocese of Ghent.
However, not only the architecture makes jaws drop. The
cathedral also houses several art treasures, with the world-famous
Mystic Lamb by the brothers van Eyck as the eyecatcher.

Muziekcentrum De Bijloke in Ghent surprises you with
classical and contemporary music, jazz and festivals in
the oldest concert hall in the world. The infirmary from the
13th century is now a state-of-the-art Concert Hall with
outstanding acoustics and comfort. The delightful Café,
historic Kraakhuis, Cabinet and Anatomic Theatre offer more
intimate concerts, family theatre, expositions, lectures and
events. Thanks to this dazzling architectural mix of brand new
and centuries old elements, every performance turns easily
into the ideal evening out..
