Welcome to Gangwon-do<br />
& Gangneung<br />
Gangwon-do is located in the mid-eastern part of the Korean peninsula and is divided<br />
into two areas, Yeongdong and Yeongseo, by the Taebaek Mountains. It is bounded<br />
by East Sea on the east and its northern boundary is the Military Demarcation Line,<br />
which demarcates South Korea and North Korea.<br />
Recognized as one of the best tourist destinations by many Koreans, Gangwon-do is<br />
celebrated for its clear blue sea, outstanding natural beauty, beautiful national parks,<br />
and for having four distinct seasons.<br />
Gangwon-do also successfully hosted the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic and Paralympic<br />
<strong>Games</strong>, which enable it to be fully equipped with world-class winter sports<br />
facilities, accommodations, and the necessary infrastructure.<br />
Withn just 1 to 2-hour ride from Seoul by a high-speed train (KTX) or by car, you are<br />
able to enjoy the region‘s scenic landscapes and unique culture.<br />
