than 590 investors with more than $110 in assets and
200 major corporate consumers with over $5.5 trillion in
acquisition spending in 2021 asked companies to disclose
their environmental impacts, risks and opportunities
through the CDP platform. 13,000 companies responded
to this call with record turnout.
Pushing the boundaries of science to discover innovative
medicines that add value to life, AstraZeneca operates
with an awareness of the relationship between the needs
of society and the limitations of the planet’s natural
resources and its goals. By making science accessible, the
company develops new approaches to conserve natural
resources and minimize their impact on the environment.
AstraZeneca was included in the A-list in both categories by
the CDP, thanks to its work in reducing carbon emissions,
managing climate risks and sustainable management of
water resources. The company was also certified by the
CDP for its transparency and steps in the restoration of
forests and ecosystems by getting a third score for the
first time.
Announcing its ‘Ambition Zero Carbon’ strategy at the
World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting held in
Davos, Switzerland in 2020, AstraZeneca has launched the
‘AZ Forest’ initiative, which is a reforestation project of 50
million trees, Worldwide and recently became one of the
300 companies on the Financial Times’ “Europe’s Climate
Leaders: 2021” list, which determines the European
companies that reduce their greenhouse gas emission
intensity* by the highest rate each year.

business are interconnected and each affects the other,
we are proud to be on CDP’s list of companies with this
sensitivity for the sixth year in a row.”
