It is no coincidence that Puerto de Mogán is hailed as the 'Venice of the<br />
Canary Islands'. The succession of canals and pedestrian streets that run<br />
through this small fishing village transports us to the famous Italian city.<br />
Although we are not talking about a natural setting, but a man-made one,<br />
it is still possible to travel to Italy just for a moment without leaving <strong>Gran</strong><br />
<strong>Canaria</strong>.<br />
7. Puerto de Mogán Vs.<br />
Venecia (Italia, sur de Europa)<br />
<strong>No</strong> es casualidad que al Puerto de Mogán se le conozca como ‘La Venecia de<br />
<strong>Canaria</strong>s’. Salvando las distancias entre ambas localizaciones, la sucesión de<br />
canales y calles peatonales de esta pequeña villa marinera sin duda nos teletransportan<br />
a la famosa ciudad italiana. Aunque no hablamos de un escenario<br />
natural, sino construido por el ser humano, es posible viajar a Italia por un<br />
momento sin salir de <strong>Gran</strong> <strong>Canaria</strong>.<br />

Just when you thought that <strong>Gran</strong> <strong>Canaria</strong> had nothing more to offer than arid<br />
landscapes, winding ravines or landscapes worthy of more exotic continents,<br />
the north of the island appears to break all the moulds: a stark contrast to the<br />
landscape and climate of southern <strong>Gran</strong> <strong>Canaria</strong> is what meets us as we head<br />
north. The green meadows of Monte Pavón, Montaña Alta and the Pinos de<br />
Gáldar -especially after the rainy season- could easily be compared to sweeping<br />
meadows in Ireland or Scotland.<br />

Praderas de Irlanda (<strong>No</strong>rte de Europa)<br />
Cuando pensabas que <strong>Gran</strong> <strong>Canaria</strong> no tenía más que ofrecer que paisajes<br />
áridos, barrancos sinuosos o paisajes dignos de continentes exóticos, el norte<br />
de la isla aparece para romper todos los esquemas: un choque paisajístico y<br />
climatológico es el que encontramos en la zona meridional grancanaria. Los<br />
prados de Monte Pavón, Montaña Alta o los Pinos de Gáldar -especialmente<br />
después de temporada de lluvias- perfectamente podrían pasar por las praderas<br />
de Irlanda o Escocia.<br />
