The current proposition includes numerous sets of lights close together, and this will likely add to congestion and doesn’t fully future-proof Rolleston. They’ve got to sort out the motorway flow problem and go from there. They need to look around the surrounding areas, as fixing one problem can actually create a problem in other places. It is a Band-Aid fix and is not looking ahead. All the agencies like the council, NZTA and Railways need to plan the work together and also talk with the community. Planning and communication with everyone is lacking, and no agency has come to talk with me. They need to realise how difficult it will be to get back, and by closing off these entranceways and exits, it is forcing you to go further afield, which will not help with the amount of traffic down Jones Road. I don’t feel it is addressing all the problems that have been created. Getting in and out of Rolleston is a problem with a single lane and needs to be double lanes. There are things that haven’t been fully thought out.
