Please do not hesitate to contact any of us if you have a question or wish to share an interest. I would like to take this opportunity to thank both Brian Smith (Past President) and Roger Stevens (Treasurer) for all their hard work, especially over the past two and a half years during COVID. They guided us through closures, IPP cards, getting groups back together, when to wear masks or not, adjusting membership fees, following provincial and city guidelines, and a lot of labour-intensive behindthe-scenes work to keep members informed. The Toronto CNE is a sure sign that the end of summer is just around the corner. We will start to move indoors to share interests, have fun, and get to know one another again. Monthly Dances have been a huge success – thank you to Margaret Waldron for spearheading this initiative. The GWSA dances are open to the public, not just GWSA members. Bring your friends! Keep Saturday, August 27, open and September 24! Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Evergreen front desk or any recreation desk for $15. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door. Check out the GWSA website for more information. Hopefully we can have Bingo every week in Room 4 on Wednesdays from 2:30-4:30. Volunteers are needed to call the numbers and runners for the call of “Bingo”. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Pat Gage (pat.gage@gwsa-guelph.ca). Again, Bingo is for the public as well as GWSA members. The Bingo and Dances will provide revenue for the GWSA and will help keep the membership fees down. These are two programs that bring people together, to have fun and make new friends. There are new programs available for our members beginning in September which include Chess, Seniors Volleyball, Write Your Life Story, Writers’ Club, and Woven Words. Check out the list of programs continuing in September and come out and have some fun. Sign up at the Evergreen front desk or through RecEnroll.ca It’s an honour to serve as your President and I look forward to helping everyone be active, get involved, and make friends.
