I hope you have all enjoyed a good summer and
had a chance to read some great books. Here is one
you will enjoy: “Finding Ashley” by Danielle Steel.
Six years after losing her son, Melissa Henderson
moved to a new life in New England where she
spent the next four years renovating a beautiful old
Victorian house. She was a best-selling author but
gave everything up, writing and her marriage, when
her son died, and she became a recluse.
Melissa’s sister, Hattie, is a nun who she has not
seen since the funeral. After a devastating fire that
almost claimed her house, Hattie called her sister to
make sure she was alright and planned a visit to see
her. It was during this visit that Melissa spoke about
the baby she had to give up to save her family’s
shame.
Now, years later, Hattie decides that she is going to
try to find out where this baby was sent and try to
locate her in the hopes of easing some of the pain that
Melissa is going through, having lost her son.
Hattie flies to Ireland, where Melissa was sent to
have the baby, but the Mother Superior there
informed her that all records were lost due to a fire
many years before.
Hattie manages to find a nun that left the church
and she gives Hattie an idea where she may be able
to locate the child.
This is a compelling story of two sisters helping
each other and reuniting a family, of never giving up
an impossible dream to find a baby many years after
she was adopted.
Happy Reading,
