Welcome
2023 has arrived and I’m delighted
to wish you a very Happy New
Year. I hope you have thoroughly
enjoyed the festive period and
have managed to find a few
moments to put your feet up and
spend some time with loved ones.
To celebrate the advent of the
New Year, we’re turning most of
this brochure over to our amazing
January Sale with more than 30
wines on offer from around the
world. It’s well worth stocking
up if you have storage space
available as we’re receiving notice
of inflationary cost increases from
many suppliers as our producers
struggle with rising energy prices,
dry goods inflation, and higher
shipping costs. Remember our
new pricing will go live in March.
My sale highlights are the St
Hilaire Provence Rose at £7.49,
the silky and complex Chateau
Sergant, Lalande-de-Pomerol,
a classic merlot-led, right bank
Bordeaux for just £12.99, and Dea
del Mare Prosecco at only £6.49.
We know transactions fall
significantly in the early part of
the New Year and maximising the
sales you do have becomes more
important than ever. We have two
suggestions we hope you may
find useful. The first is to promote
upselling; drink less but drink
better is my mantra, and we have
some fantastic wines on offer on
page 21 to tempt your customers
to treat themselves.
Secondly, for those customers
who are sticking with Dry January,
make sure you have some
alcohol-free options to offer them
see page 4 and 5. You’ll make
more money trading people up to
a 0% sparkling wine rather than
a soft drink and, if you offer 20cl
options, you don’t need to worry
about wastage.
Finally, allow us to transport you to
sunnier climes and check out the
two articles written by our Wine
Development Managers, Matt and
James, who visited Tuscany and
Burgundy respectively in Autumn
2022.
