One of Queensland’s oldest licenced venues, The Grand View
Hotel, has a multiple million-dollar renovation on the horizon after
being sold to the flourishing pub chain Kickon Group.
Named after its gorgeous view overlooking Moreton Bay, The Grand
View Hotel in Cleveland is a cherished icon of Redland Bay that has
earnt many titles since it was built in 1851, such as ‘The Brighton
Hotel’, ‘Cleveland House’ and ‘The Grand Dame’ to name a few.
Now the heritage registered venue may be referred to as a different
name after being sold by JLL Hotels and Hospitality Group in
November last year. The company’s Senior Vice President, Tom
Gleeson, said the underlying fundamentals were clear with the
Grand View Hotel being a large format hotel within the tightly held
southeast area.
“The intangibles this Queensland hospitality icon possess is rare
and I am excited to see what Kickon Group do to complement its
vast and rich history, it’s been a privilege to be involved,” he said.
Based in Victoria, Kickon Group’s growing portfolio of venues
is nothing short of impressive. The leading hospitality group
is responsible for The Continental in Victoria’s Sorrento, The
Collective in Queensland’s Palm Beach, and the iconic Plough Inn in
Brisbane’s Southbank.
With The Grand View Hotel now added to their luxurious list of
venues, Kickon Group is planning a multiple million-dollar renovation
for the hotel in the near future in hopes to reinvigorate the venue
and add to its rich and vast history.
Currently, The Grand View Hotel features a thriving beer garden,
multiple function rooms, a public bar, 35 gaming machines and a
bistro. With a classic pub atmosphere and unrivalled water views,
the hotel is a favourite visiting place for locals.
Founder and Director of Kickon Group, Craig Shearer, said the
company is looking forward to celebrating the importance of the
history of the venue while taking advantage of the magical outdoor
space and ocean view.
“It’s going to be really special. We have partnered with awardwinning
architects BSPN to create plans that will breathe life back
into this amazing landmark,” he said.
