Pitchup.com Reveals Top Trends
Outdoor accommodation booking
platform Pitchup.com has identified
some surprising post-pandemic camping
and glamping habits following a detailed
analysis from over 24 million users and
more than 32 million visits to its website.
Results showed holidaymakers
are booking last minute breaks, with
the average lead time falling by 15%
in 2022 compared to the previous
year, likely due to less concern about
domestic accommodation availability as
international travel options opened up
further post pandemic.
There has also been a surprising
peak in inbound interest in outdoor
accommodation, with a rise of 58% in
non-domestic UK bookings. The season
is also extending, with UK winter arrivals
for 21 December to 20 March up 118%
compared to 2019/20 and up nearly 30%
compared to 2021/22.
While almost all destinations have
seen bookings grow significantly when
comparing 2019 to 2022, those with high
growth include Cumbria, Hampshire
and Powys, while Cornwall, Devon and
Somerset all saw lower growth rates.
Emerging areas that saw a huge growth
spurt year-on-year include East Yorkshire
(409% rise), Oxfordshire (353% rise) and
Staffordshire (499% rise).
Glamping Show Gears
up for September
The Glamping Show has
confirmed a record number of
exhibitors already confirmed
for its September dates. Now
in its eigth year, the show is
held at the NAEC Stoneleigh
in Coventry, returning on
14-16 September 2023. It
is widely recognised as the
one-stop-shop for starting and
improving short-term rental
businesses with past shows
attracting over 120 exhibitors.
Last year’s show welcomed
over 5,000 visitors from 47
countries.
Dan Wiseman, exhibition
manager, said: “With close to
50 companies confirmed and
an exciting host of first time
exhibitors, The Glamping Show
2023 promises new talent in
the expanded new space at
NAEC Stoneleigh Park.”
