Done well, lighting
enhances the enchantment
of the setting, but battery power
may be essential across inaccessible
areas due to the cost or impracticality
of mains installation. CORE Lighting has
spent 14 years developing the perfect
range of outdoor water-tight and rugged
battery lighting for just that purpose, all
manufactured in the UK.
Honeydown’s woodland collection of offgrid,
hand-crafted wooden domes (known as
Truffles) in Hatherleigh, Devon, uses several
of CORE’s products to create charm: battery
festoon lights for outdoor lounging, plus
Truffle interiors lit with warm glow hanging
lamps powered from CORE’s battery packs.
The power and warm tone of these lights
allow areas to be visually appealing but also
properly lit and safe. The lightweight
lithium batteries are charged using
CORE’s solar panels on-site or
from mains rechargers every
few days.
On dining tables, covered or
outdoors, CORE’s TablePoints
light appropriately rustic
lamps. The unique lamp
adaptor allowed Honeydown
to select their own base and
lampshade combination. CORE’s new
compact uplighters, developed for the 2022
Green Space Dark Skies project, are planned
to be added to illuminate surrounding trees
for additional spectacle.

S2T Group’s PERFO range of ground
protection products comprises a system
of interlocking, self-anchoring permeable
plastic tiles which are embedded into an
existing surface, eg. a mature grass area
or prepared base consisting of a layer
of crushed stone chippings, depending
on the application. A number of light to
heavy duty solutions are available to suit
varied ground conditions, traffic profiles
and loading requirements.
Unlike other geogrid systems, PERFO
tiles are usually installed without the
need for excavation, being compacted
directly into the existing surface using
rollers or compactor plates. Installation is
therefore rapid and planning issues less
problematic.
