TRAINING AND SAFETY RTO 30826 with Therese Kelly THE TEAM, WHAT WE DO AND WHAT WE OFFER. QHA REVIEW | 36 As most of you would know, I joined the QHA in April 2022. I was the newest addition to the QHA family with my appointment as the training manager. The last 11 months have seen some changes to our training team, so I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce you to our new members, the change to some roles within the team and a brief overview of what we do. Pam Hague Pam joined us in mid-November as a trainer and assessor. Her main role is delivery of both face-toface and live online learning across Responsible Management of Licenced Venues (RMLV), Customer Liaison Officer (CLO) and Gaming Nominee Training (GNT). Pam is an experienced and professional trainer with a demonstrated history of working in the Hospitality Industry and Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. Skilled in coaching, hospitality, training, assessment, team building, training delivery and management, she is a strong education professional and a former flight attendant with strong communication and customer service experience. Becky Davidson Becky joined QHA in December and has taken on the role of training administration assistant. Becky is responsible for taking bookings, printing certificates, assisting the trainers with preparing learning materials needed for training and dealing with general enquiries. Becky’s role will develop as her knowledge of the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) world grows. Becky moved here from across the ditch to play rugby in Brisbane. After playing for the mighty Tasman Makos in New Zealand she was excited to get involved with Queensland rugby. She completed studies at Lincoln University with a bachelor’s in Sports and Recreation Management and had been working in sports administration. She’s very excited to be involved in something new with the hospitality industry and get to know our wonderful members. Change in role: Susan Sykes Many of you would be familiar with Susan as another strong and experienced trainer. Sue has been with QHA for nearly two years and for most of that time held the position of training coordinator. She is also a hospitality trainer with an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Business Management. In September, Sue took on the role of trainer/assessor and compliance officer. There’s a lot of compliance involved with delivering accredited and non-accredited training. Not only is Sue a great trainer, but her knowledge of the RTO world is fantastic. This, along with her passion for training, made this a natural position for her to fill. What we do QHA is a RTO (RTO#30826) and delivers industryoriented training to members and non-members. QHA Training have a number of accredited and nonaccredited training as well as government funded courses available. These include: Non-accredited courses • Responsible Management of Licensed Venues (RMLV) training • Gaming Nominee Training (GNT) • Customer Liaison Officer (CLO) • developing hotel management skills • hospitality first steps (introduction to hospitality) • employment relations training program Accredited Courses • SITHFAB021 Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) • SITHGAM022 Provide Responsible Service of Gambling (RSG) QHA also has our Hospitality First Steps program running this year. This program includes five days of all-inclusive training. The training is focused on helping participants get all of the essentials skills and certifications to work a variety of roles within the hospitality industry. This project is funded by the Queensland Government through its Growing Workforce Participation Fund. The QHA’s Training team offers a range of training sessions, covering current work health and safety information, obligations and advice. Training can be provided online, in-house or in various locations across Queensland.
