What sets Weekender apart
within the hospitality space?
We are here to inspire the next
generation of travelers to adventure
more into the great outdoors, to
explore new areas and activities, to
find and nurture their passions, and
to connect with themselves, those
they love, and the world around them
more deeply.
With Weekender, this is your chance
to explore new places, try new
things, and create lifelong memories
with the ones you love, and to do it
through adventure and exploration
at the heart of your vacation
experience. We’re here to make it all
possible. You get the comforts of
a luxury stay with proximity to the
great outdoors, endless outdoor
activities and adventures, Smart
Hotel technological amenities,
design-forward and modern rooms
and public spaces, and a fun and hip
basecamp for your next adventure.
Is there any property or activity
you’d recommend for a first-time
visitor?
I would recommend Great Pines
(https://greatpines.com/), our
flagship Weekender property and
my first foray into hospitality in 2015,
almost 6 full years before Weekender
was born and launched in 2021, and
began to grow very quickly over the
last 18 months into now 7 hotels and
properties, going on 10 in Q1 next
year in 2023.
It’s right on the water on a beautiful
Adirondack mountain lake, close to
so many wonderful outdoor activities,
has a restaurant and bar on property,
and a real mountain lodge aesthetic
and feel.
You acquired your first property
in 2015 but experienced sizeable
growth during the pandemic
years. What challenges did you
face during the pandemic and
how have you overcome these?
I would say the biggest challenge was
the rapidly changing labor market to
be honest in these small destination
Resort communities that our hotels
are located in. But we found new
and creative ways to overcome
this challenge. Also early on in the
pandemic the challenge of making
guests feel safe and providing a safe
and accommodating environment
was a challenge but a challenge that
we adapted to quickly.
