Defence Member and Family Support
With the dry season upon us, the Top End is alive with
many local event and activities. Take this opportunity to
check out what is available to you all over the NT.
DMFS NT continue to host a wide range of activities/events in
the community to help our Defence community explore what is
out there within their posting locality while helping to connect
with other people in the same lifestyle.
With many units becoming busier as the dry season arrives
unfortunately so do the absences from home due to
deployments, courses and exercises. We here at DMFS NT can
help assist you in preparing and planning for these absences.
Take the time to look at the Deployment support resources on
our website Absence from home | ADF Members & Families |
Defence and work through the Member and Family Care Plan.
We also know that with posting order due this too members
and families are starting to plan. If any other assistance is need
please reach out.
Remember, Defence Member and Family Support are here to
help. Reach out to the Defence Member and Family Helpline at
Special Needs Workshops, Darwin &
Tindal
In March DMFS hosted Special Needs workshops in
Katherine and Darwin, for ADF families whose children may
be diagnosed with a special need or have children who are
waiting to be diagnosed, or adult members who are seeking
more information about the agencies that provide services
across a board spectrum of needs and age groups.
DMFS would like to express their appreciation to the
presenters from both Government and Non for profit
agencies who gave their time and informative presentations
on services available in both the Katherine and Darwin
region as well as guidance on how to navigate through the
different services on offer. This included information about
NDIS, alternative forms of funding support and early
intervention strategies.
