CAREERSTART<br />

YouthWorX NT works with a variety of<br />

industries to identify skill shortages and<br />

difficult to fill occupations within the NT.<br />

Once identified, YouthWorX NT works<br />

with eligible young people and adults,<br />

focusing on building their skills to engage<br />

in those identified industry-specific roles.<br />

Ongoing support is provided to both the<br />

participant and their employee.<br />

HOW DO THEY ACHIEVE THIS?<br />

YouthWorX NT uses a successfully 4<br />

step model to identify skills, strengths and<br />

opportunities and connects the<br />

participants with suitable employment<br />

options. Throughout the program,<br />

personal support and mentoring is<br />

provided to empower the individual to<br />

expand their knowledge and manage<br />

their own career.<br />

<strong>The</strong> program empowers individuals to:<br />

• Make life and career choices<br />

• Increase their learning<br />

opportunities<br />

• Build their employability skills<br />

• Secure employment<br />

<strong>The</strong>n the CareerStart Program<br />

connects individuals with work<br />

placements to secure ongoing work<br />

in a field with identified demand,<br />

typically through traineeship and<br />

apprenticeships; or go on to further<br />

education and/or training.<br />

CareerStart is open to all ages<br />

including adults > 25yrs.<br />

No matter where your young person is in their<br />

journey to adulthood, YouthWorX NT has different<br />

programs and flexibility to support every young<br />

person's unique needs. <strong>The</strong> age range best<br />

supported byYouthWorX NT is 15-24 years,<br />

however, if your young person is not within this<br />

range, please reach out to theYouthWorX NT team<br />

for guidance.<br />

All YouthWorX NT programs are person-centred<br />

and designed to improve the skills of our young<br />

people, through NDIS or without. YouthWorX NT<br />

uses proven techniques to help our young people<br />

become prepared for the workforce, through<br />

empowerment by education in many areas to<br />

promote self-sufficiency, such as:<br />

• Social and business<br />

communication skills<br />

• Money management<br />

• Travel skills<br />

• Understanding<br />

personal hygiene and<br />

presentation<br />

• Understanding your<br />

rights in the workplace<br />

• Teamwork<br />

YouthWorX NT understands that not all young<br />

people require or qualify for NDIS, so we<br />

recommend viewing their website to research a<br />

number of different programs that suit a wide range<br />

of goals for all abilities and backgrounds.<br />

Army Cadets is for young<br />

adults! Cadets may join AAC in<br />

the calendar year they are<br />

turning 13 or before they turn<br />

16 years old.<br />

Army Cadets NT will be conducting<br />

<strong>2023</strong> enrolments:<br />

• Palmerston (Robertson Barracks)<br />

at 7:00 pm on 8 August <strong>2023</strong><br />

• Darwin (Larrakeyah Barracks) at<br />

6:30 pm on 9 August <strong>2023</strong><br />

Are you looking for fun, adventure<br />

and new experiences in field-craft,<br />

survival, leadership, team building,<br />

and mateship?<br />

Parade nights and times are<br />

conducted at Army Cadet Units<br />

(ACU) under local arrangements:<br />

• 70 ACU (Darwin) is every Wed<br />

between 6:00 – 9:00pm<br />

• 71 ACU (Palmerston) is every<br />

Tue between 6:30 – 9:00pm<br />

We are also looking for volunteer<br />

adult leaders - no experience<br />

required, full training provided.<br />
