CAREERSTART
YouthWorX NT works with a variety of
industries to identify skill shortages and
difficult to fill occupations within the NT.
Once identified, YouthWorX NT works
with eligible young people and adults,
focusing on building their skills to engage
in those identified industry-specific roles.
Ongoing support is provided to both the
participant and their employee.
HOW DO THEY ACHIEVE THIS?
YouthWorX NT uses a successfully 4
step model to identify skills, strengths and
opportunities and connects the
participants with suitable employment
options. Throughout the program,
personal support and mentoring is
provided to empower the individual to
expand their knowledge and manage
their own career.
The program empowers individuals to:
• Make life and career choices
• Increase their learning
opportunities
• Build their employability skills
• Secure employment
Then the CareerStart Program
connects individuals with work
placements to secure ongoing work
in a field with identified demand,
typically through traineeship and
apprenticeships; or go on to further
education and/or training.
CareerStart is open to all ages
including adults > 25yrs.
No matter where your young person is in their
journey to adulthood, YouthWorX NT has different
programs and flexibility to support every young
person's unique needs. The age range best
supported byYouthWorX NT is 15-24 years,
however, if your young person is not within this
range, please reach out to theYouthWorX NT team
for guidance.
All YouthWorX NT programs are person-centred
and designed to improve the skills of our young
people, through NDIS or without. YouthWorX NT
uses proven techniques to help our young people
become prepared for the workforce, through
empowerment by education in many areas to
promote self-sufficiency, such as:
• Social and business
communication skills
• Money management
• Travel skills
• Understanding
personal hygiene and
presentation
• Understanding your
rights in the workplace
• Teamwork
• Decision making
• Problem solving
• Planning and

YouthWorX NT understands that not all young
people require or qualify for NDIS, so we
recommend viewing their website to research a
number of different programs that suit a wide range
of goals for all abilities and backgrounds.

Army Cadets is for young
adults! Cadets may join AAC in
the calendar year they are
turning 13 or before they turn
16 years old.
Army Cadets NT will be conducting
2023 enrolments:
• Palmerston (Robertson Barracks)
at 7:00 pm on 8 August 2023
• Darwin (Larrakeyah Barracks) at
6:30 pm on 9 August 2023
Are you looking for fun, adventure
and new experiences in field-craft,
survival, leadership, team building,
and mateship?
Parade nights and times are
conducted at Army Cadet Units
(ACU) under local arrangements:
• 70 ACU (Darwin) is every Wed
between 6:00 – 9:00pm
• 71 ACU (Palmerston) is every
Tue between 6:30 – 9:00pm
We are also looking for volunteer
adult leaders - no experience
required, full training provided.
