Billeroy House is pleased to see the Army Indigenous Development<br />
Program (AIDP) join the ranks this year. <strong>The</strong> AIDP team did an amazing<br />
job to keep the house and gardens looking amazing. Thank you to the<br />
AIDP crew. Also, a big thank you to Allan and Brendon for their<br />
continuing support. Wednesday mornings wouldn’t be what they are<br />
without a few volunteers in the kitchen, working hard to ensure we are<br />
well fed. Thank you to Char, Sheena and Paddy for consistently keeping<br />
our bellies full!<br />
Veterans, past and present, together with their families are welcome<br />
every Wednesday to meet new and old mates. Our centre is open<br />
from 10am.<br />

WHAT IS AN ADVOCATE<br />
Advocates are people who are trained to help you access<br />
DVA services and payments.<br />
<strong>The</strong>y tend to be members of the veteran community, such as<br />
veterans and partners of veterans. <strong>The</strong>y are not DVA staff<br />
members.<br />

ESO advocates are trained in the 'Course in Military Advocacy'<br />
through the Advocacy Training and Development Program<br />
(ATDP).<br />
HOW ADVOCATES CAN HELP<br />
• Advocates can help you prepare and lodge:<br />
• claims using MyService or our paper forms<br />
• requests for a review of our decisions<br />
• appeals to the Veterans' Review Board (VRB) and<br />
Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).<br />
<strong>The</strong>y can also represent you at VRB and AAT hearings.<br />
Advocates can help you access information and referrals for<br />
services such as:<br />
• health and treatment<br />
• rehabilitation<br />
• housing<br />
• transport<br />

• support for transitioning<br />
to civilian life<br />
• medical, financial, legal<br />
and police matters<br />
• funeral arrangements and<br />

If you need extra support, they can put you in touch with other<br />
government and community services.<br />
You can expect quality advice and services from advocates.<br />
This is because they follow the claims advocacy service<br />
standards.<br />
Advocates with training under the ATDP and working for an<br />
ESO advocacy service provide these services for free, although<br />
they may ask you to pay a small amount to cover incidental<br />
costs.<br />
