Former secretary <strong>of</strong> Dutch Medicines Reimbursement<br />
Advice Committee, now independent<br />
consultant in healthcare and medicines reimbursement<br />
issues.<br />
Education: graduated as a pharmacist with a<br />
subsidiary in general practice.<br />
Work experience: after practising in a pharmacy<br />
in a healthcare centre in Amsterdam,<br />
he became editor <strong>of</strong> the Dutch Drug Bulletin in<br />
1990 and was General Secretary <strong>of</strong> the International<br />
Society <strong>of</strong> Drug Bulletins from 1996.<br />
In 1999 he joined the Dutch Healthcare Insurance<br />
Board as a pharmaceutical adviser. From<br />
2004 to 2009 he was secretary <strong>of</strong> the Dutch<br />
Medicines Reimbursement Advice Committee,<br />
the independent expert committee responsible<br />
for advising the Ministry <strong>of</strong> Health on the reimbursement<br />
<strong>of</strong> medicines.<br />
Present role: on 1st January 2009 he started<br />
his own independent consultancy company<br />
ToendersdeGroot, which advises on healthcare<br />
and medicines reimbursement issues. Among<br />
the activities are: participation in scientific advisory<br />
boards, advising on strategic issues, advising<br />
on the design <strong>of</strong> clinical trials, doing reimbursement<br />
feasibility studies and preparing<br />
reimbursement dossiers.<br />
