Where the Arts Reside<br />
ne of the most significant palace buildings of the R<strong>en</strong>aissance is<br />
O situated in the heart of Dresd<strong>en</strong>’s historic c<strong>en</strong>ter: the Dresd<strong>en</strong> Royal<br />
Palace. Since the 15th c<strong>en</strong>tury, the palace has be<strong>en</strong> the cultural c<strong>en</strong>ter<br />
of the city as the seat of electors and kings.<br />

In 1945, it was nearly <strong>en</strong>tirely destroyed during the bombing of Dresd<strong>en</strong>.<br />
Today it has be<strong>en</strong> restored to its former glory and houses the Staatliche<br />
Kunstsammlung<strong>en</strong> Dresd<strong>en</strong>, one of the largest art collections in Europe.<br />
In the Gre<strong>en</strong> Vault, the Royal State Apartm<strong>en</strong>ts, the R<strong>en</strong>aissance Wing,<br />
the Turkish Chamber and the Giant Hall of the Armory, visitors will<br />
discover testimonies of a glorious time full of wealth and spl<strong>en</strong>dor. The<br />
Coin Cabinet can also be found behind the palace walls. The Great Palace<br />
Courtyard captivates visitors with its sophisticated sgraffito-scratched<br />
plasterwork. Visitors can also admire the beauty of the palace from the<br />
100-meter Hausmann Tower – and <strong>en</strong>joy a unique panoramic view of<br />
Dresd<strong>en</strong> at the same time.<br />
