bailiffs of Strassberg and Plau<strong>en</strong>, later used by<br />
the Wettins as an electoral office, it still continues<br />
to impress today with the sacred works<br />
of art in the Gothic St. George’s Chapel, the<br />
magnific<strong>en</strong>t baroque ceiling in the Schoesserstube<br />
and the carefully preserved architectural<br />
elem<strong>en</strong>ts of the Knights’ and Princes’ Hall.<br />

Picking up on the 140-year tradition of carpet<br />
weaving in the Vogtland region, the Oelsnitz<br />
Carpet Museum in the outer bailey of Voigtsberg<br />
Castle is dedicated to this form of<br />
weaving. The treasure chamber in the historic<br />
vaulted cellar also houses the mineral vault.<br />
Barite from Zobes, wavellite from Schloditz,<br />
fluorite from Scho<strong>en</strong>brunn – the collection<br />
<strong>en</strong>compasses 400 minerals from the Saxon<br />
