Castle have the opportunity to sleep in<br />
a place rich in history. The impressive complex<br />
situated on the Zwickauer Mulde River served<br />
as a closely guarded internm<strong>en</strong>t camp for highranking<br />
Western Allies, including Winston<br />
Churchill’s nephew, during World War II. The<br />
spectacular escape attempts of the prisoners have<br />
be<strong>en</strong> chronicled in several books and films –<br />
and turned Colditz Castle into a world-famous<br />
attraction.<br />
Today the complex also accommodates the<br />
European Youth Hostel at Colditz Castle with<br />
its special international flair. Up to 171 guests<br />
can stay in the 34 bright, fri<strong>en</strong>dly and modern<br />
rooms. There are also many confer<strong>en</strong>ce and<br />
common rooms available. Musicians will find<br />
the best rehearsal and working conditions in<br />
the adjac<strong>en</strong>t Landesmusikakademie Sachs<strong>en</strong>.<br />
No one will get bored here thanks to a wide<br />
range of sightseeing tours, readings, bicycle<br />
tours, hikes or rubber dinghy tours.<br />
