Ms. Mavic Cabrera Balleza, Director of the

the results of a report by UN-Women, she
reported that it is evident that societies
with more gender equality are considerably
more resilient and crisis-resistant. Moreover,
Mavic Cabrera Balleza highlighted
the fundamental role of local civil society
organisations, currently in Ukraine, which
often act as “first responders” in conflicts.
She appealed for the strategic financing of
women’s rights organisations and “Women
Peacebuilders” in all crisis regions.

The situation of women and girls in Afghanistan
