Austria's Commitment to the 2030 Agenda

ACTIVE ON NATIONAL LEVEL
DIALOGUE WITH SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY
With the “circle17” initiative (www.circle17.
at), respACT has supported start-ups and
companies since 2019 to develop joint solutions
for urgent sustainability challenges.
In this regard, in a collaborative process,
a main topic is defined each year (2022:
circular economy) and concrete challenges
from companies are worked on (so-called
“challenge leads”).
Since 2019, the GCNA has primarily focused
on the issue of “sustainable finance” to
achieve the SDGs. During business meetings,
opportunities for sustainable and
eco-efficient investing for companies were
presented and various guidelines were
published (“Principles of Responsible
Investment”, “Action Platform on Financial
Innovation”, “Principles on Responsible
Banking”).
The TRIGOS Award and SDG Strategy of the
GCNA were included in Austria’s first VNR
as best practice example in 2020. The status
quo of the 2030 Agenda in Austria was
discussed together with Austrian Federal
Minister Karoline Edtstadler during the
CEO Business Talk.
In 2021, respACT developed guidelines for
companies to implement the SDGs by means
of digital technology (“DIGI FOR SDG”: www.
respact.at/portal/de/themen/digitalisierung/
digiprojekte/article/7910.html).
On the occasion of the GCNA’s 15th anniversary,
titled “Making the SDGs happen
- United for a Decade of Action,” the focus
was on solutions to the question of how
the SDGs can be achieved with the help of
Covid-19’s private sector recovery, among
others. This celebration focused on the 10
principles of the UN Global Compact in
the areas of human rights, labor, environment
and anti-corruption.

In 2022, the respACT Academy was
developed as a learning and information
platform for knowledge transfer and
knowledge development in the area of
responsible economies.
The GCNA addressed the opportunities of
circular economy at an event with CEOs. In
addition, “SDG guides” for the construction
sector and the manufacturing industry
were published.
