Comparing Torres to MIngs makes a lot of sense
because both will be competing for the left center back
position its fair to assume. Torres does struggle
somewhat aerially whereas Tyrone is aggressive in his
aerial duels and is a major asset at defensive set pieces.
Where Torres excels is in his passing ability with him
being a very progressive passer, yet Tyrone is no slouch
in this department either and he has vastly improved
this area of his game under Emery. Tyrone has also
improved his positional awareness and has made gains
in this department too especially out of possession.
Torres would add a calmness in possession and his build
up play is very good and in Villa’s first phase build up he
would be the primary initiator of that phase one would
imagine
Torres would be a very welcome addition to not only add
competition for Tyrone but as an upgrade on the first
phase of Villa’s build up play. Whether Emery will start
games with two left footed centre backs is unknown.
